Engineered Flooring Shipping by Sea: FCL, LCL & DDP Logistics Guide

Engineered wood flooring pallets being unloaded at a shipping dock with a cargo ship in the background.

For international real estate developers, hotel contractors, and wholesale distributors, sourcing premium hardwood and parquet flooring is only half the journey. Ensuring thousands of square meters of engineered wood arrive across oceans flat, dry, undamaged, and on schedule is equally critical.

Headquartered at our primary manufacturing super-base in Xiantao City, Hubei Province, SeekMic Global operates a fully integrated export logistics system. From automated inland hub transfers to global ocean freight and turnkey DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) door-to-door deliveries, here is everything you need to know about sea shipping commercial flooring.

1. FCL (Full Container Load) vs. LCL (Less than Container Load)

Depending on the scale of your development or renovation project, we configure the most cost-effective shipping method:

  • FCL (20ft Standard Container): Ideal for medium hospitality projects and mixed residential lots. Holds approximately 1,000 to 1,300 sq.m (10,700–14,000 sq.ft) of 15mm/18mm flooring. Since wood flooring is heavy, 20ft containers typically hit highway payload weight limits (approx. 20–22 metric tons) before running out of volume.
  • FCL (40ft High Cube Container): Best for multi-story hotel developments and wholesale inventory. Accommodates approximately 2,200 to 2,600 sq.m (23,600–28,000 sq.ft), maximizing container payload where destination road regulations permit heavier axle loads.
  • LCL (Consolidated Sea Freight): Designed for bespoke villas, luxury penthouses, custom parquet medallion orders, or partial renovation batches (from 100 sq.m upwards). Your order is palletized in sealed, heavy-duty wooden crates and consolidated securely.

2. Strategic Location: Dispatched Directly from Xiantao, Hubei

Our manufacturing factory is situated in Xiantao, Hubei Province, at the vital transport crossroads of central China:

  • Seamless Intermodal Transit: Direct highway connections link our loading docks to Wuhan Port and major international gateway terminals (Shanghai and Ningbo), enabling fast feeder routing to major ocean lines.
  • Factory-Direct Container Sealing: For FCL orders, ocean containers are trucked directly to our Xiantao facility, loaded by trained wood-handling crews, and sealed on site under customs supervision to eliminate mid-transit handling damage.

3. Export-Grade Moisture Barrier & Palletization Standard

High humidity in ocean container holds poses a serious risk to improperly packaged wood. We enforce a military-grade packaging protocol on every export shipment:

  • ISPM-15 Heat-Treated Pallets: Fully compliant with international customs phytosanitary regulations (fumigation-free heat-treated timber).
  • Multi-Layer PE Shrink Wrapping: Pallets are wrapped with heavy-duty waterproof shrink film, thermo-sealed to shield against marine humidity and condensation rain.
  • Reinforced Edge Protectors & Desiccants: High-density corner guards prevent strap crushing during rough sea voyages, with industrial-grade silica gel desiccant bags placed inside each pallet.

4. Why Choose DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) Shipping?

Many contractors and designers hesitate to import overseas materials due to complicated customs brokerage, HS code tariffs, bond fees, and port storage charges.

With SeekMic’s DDP Service, we take full responsibility from factory floor to jobsite gate:

  • All-Inclusive Transparent Pricing: We handle ocean freight, export declarations, import customs clearance, local tariffs, port handling fees, and inland final-mile trucking.
  • No Surprise Surcharges: You receive a single, fixed all-inclusive invoice. No unexpected demurrage fees, terminal handling charges (THC), or customs inspection penalties.
  • Jobsite Tail-Lift Delivery: Pallets are delivered directly to your construction staging area or warehouse on liftgate trucks with advance appointment scheduling.

5. Typical Ocean Transit Timelines

Lead times from factory departure at Xiantao to destination port arrival typically range as follows:

  • US West Coast (Los Angeles / Long Beach): 16–22 days
  • US East Coast (New York / Savannah): 28–35 days
  • Western Europe (Rotterdam / Hamburg / Antwerp): 25–32 days
  • Middle East (Dubai / Jebel Ali): 18–24 days
  • Australia (Sydney / Melbourne): 14–20 days
